Digger and White Fang |

|
Digger and White Fang are six year old brothers who are seeking a new home due to a family illness. These boys have been together since birth and really must stay together. They are currently outdoor only dogs with a great deal of recreational sledding experience. The boys were recently assessed by an experienced dog rescuer and have only very recently been moved to a foster home for further assessments. But the resounding consensus is the boys are super sweet with awesome personalities! They had no issues with physical handling – were quite fine with having their ears, paws and tails touched, and even having teeth checked! They very much love people but lack the decorum of a house dog – in that they spent a good amount of time with their paws on their assessor’s shoulders giving her kisses, and they are not house trained. On the up side they are very friendly; on the challenging side they do need some corrections and would not be good with smaller children. They have grown up with teens and older children. These boys have been used for recreational sledding and apparently are very good pullers. They are not used to leash walking and thus tend to pull a great deal on leash. The owners have tried to separate the boys in the past but they are extremely bonded and become very very stressed when separated – they really must stay together. They have never been in a house and thus need a home where they will continue to be outdoor dogs OR to someone who is willing to work on house training. At their foster home a very kind trainer has offered to work with them on both house training and leash training. Updates on success to come! Update on Sept 6, 2009 - Leash Training: "Whitefang is easy to walk. Digger is the one who tends to get distracted when he sees other dogs, but that's easily corrected. Every time you pull back on the leash, he looks up at you as if to ask what you want him to do. I really think these boys are going to make great dogs for someone who can offer them the love and patience...and do a little work with them. I don't think a lot of work in needed, just consistency, that's all. Other than that, everything looks good." ------------------------ The boys are healthy, are average size (one is 82 lbs the other 80 lbs), were recently neutered and vaccinated for the first time. They are great boys who would make excellent recreational sled dogs for their new adopters. If you have room in your heart and backyard for Digger (the lighter coloured boy) and White Fang (the darker boy) please complete an application: http://www.malamuterescue.com/rescuedb/app/adoptapp.php For more information please contact: andreasorensen@hotmail.com |

Given that it is impossible to predict with complete accuracy how any dog will react in a given situation, without completeknowledge of its life experiences, the AMHL urges the adopter to exercise caution in introducing the dog tonew situations until the dog has become fully adjusted to its new environment and the adopter has had an opportunity to become familiar with the dog's unique personality. |
