Pria is a beautiful 5 year old female Malamute who is looking for a loving home. She has only known the hard life of an Iqaluit Sled Dog.

She was bounced around in the sledding community because she wasn?t up to standard and because there is no shortage of dogs - she was cast aside.

Lucky for Pria she had an angel who was looking out for her. Her fate would have been death however her angel knew she was worth saving along with the 4 puppies that had survived the harsh weather. Three of their siblings have moved on to the rainbow bridge.

Pria became very sick and was quickly transported to the Ottawa Humane Society who has cared and nursed not only her but her 4 puppies back to health.

Although Pria was beaten regularly for non-compliance on the sled - she still loves and trusts people. She is intelligent and has tons of personality and like any typical malamute will help herself to treats left unattended.

She does not have issues with her food when it comes to people even though food was sometimes unavailable but she will fight for her treats and any food with other 4 legged animals. Because this was crucial to her survival we know she can not be trained out of this behaviour.

She has not demonstrated social grace with other dogs and will posture and deliver that Malamute scream when other dogs are near.

We recommend a home without other dogs. She is HIGHLY prey driven so please DO NOT apply for her if you have cats or small animals.

Pria is a loving girl who only wants affection - walks and her dinner. She has had a sledding career so being on a recreational sled by herself is possible.

Because she is a big girl weighing in at 85lbs we do not recommend small children.

An EXPERIENCED malamute owner is required because of her past. A malamute is a difficult dog even in the best of circumstances so we are looking for someone who will be patient and understanding. Because Pria is a malamute she will need a strong leader who will help her understand her role but with kindness and respect. She responds well to verbal commands and aims to please.
