Koona is a sweet middle aged Malamute Cross that is looking for a new home. At the age of 7 years, she is healthy but will need to lose a few pounds so she can remain agile as she nears her golden years. Koona had a rough start in life. As a puppy she was left tied to a tree in the woods while her first owners were hoping to have her mate with a wolf. Because of this traumatic experience, she is aggressive on leash and does not do well with other dogs when she feels constrained. Koona recently had an unfortunate incident with another dog when on leash. She accidentally got away from her owner and attacked a smaller dog, causing significant damage. Koona however is fine off leash with other dogs. She currently lives with another female and shares her yard with other dog visitors. She is loving towards all people, lives with young children and has no sign of food, toy or bone aggression. She was happy to receive belly rubs and allowed me to touch her paws, look in her mouth and rub her ears. Koona is happy to be with her people. She does not wander like a typical Malamute trait, she doesn't dig and loves to stay outside except when visiting her family for loves. Koona would do well in just about any setting but her new family must be mindful of her past and respect her unease with walking on leash around other dogs. She will not likely out grow this trait and would probably do best in a rural setting. If you think you can provide this wonderful girl her forever home, please contact: Vanessa terVeld vterveld@yahoo.co.uk |
